Papon admits Shakib-Tamim rift

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon admitted that the rift between star players Nazmul Hassan Papon Khan and Shakib Al Hasan can't be sorted out.

The BCB boss said he tried to resolve the internal matter between the cricketers but he failed. However, they assured BCB chief that their personal issue won't have any effect on their profession.

Papon said, “I can guarantee this is not a healthy dressing room. It's not that I have not tried to sort it out (split between Shakib and Tamim). I have spoken with both of them and I felt that it is not easy to settle the issues at the moment,” reports Cricbuzz.

"Both of them have been given one message - we don't know what is going on between you, but during a game or series that you are playing, these differences cannot come out. Both of them assured me that it won't be there during the game,” he added.

He also stated that the main problem is grouping among the players in the dressing room.

“The biggest problem for Bangladesh cricket at the moment is this grouping and that is the reality. I don't have a problem with anything else. I am only scared about this grouping and I only came to know about it in recent times," he lamented.

Mustafizur is ours now: Sourav Ganguly

Former India captain and former BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly, has been making headlines in Bangladesh. The cricket legend recently visited the neighboring country and expressed his concerns about the state of cricket here. Despite spending his time playing cricket in his own country, Ganguly has been keeping a keen eye on the progress of Bangladesh's cricket scene. With the new IPL season set to begin in March, the focus has shifted to the three Bangladeshi cricketers who will be participating in the tournament.

Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, and Litton Kumar Das have all been selected to play in this year's IPL. Ganguly, who will be serving as the Cricket Director of the Delhi Capitals, has shown a particular interest in Mustafizur. The Bangladeshi cricketer has been included in the Delhi Capitals' squad and Ganguly has even claimed that Mustafizur now belongs to them.

During his visit, Ganguly also took the time to meet with BCB director Iftekhar Ahmed, where he discussed the progress of cricket in Bangladesh. Speaking to reporters, Ganguly said, "I take updates; I see the games of Bangladesh. It is always good to see Bangladesh progress.”

Ganguly also spoke about the talent of Bangladeshi cricketers, particularly Shakib and Mustafizur. "Mustafizur is ours now. Shakib has played many times for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before. Shakib was on the winning IPL team. Mustafizur also seems to have been on the winning team for the Sunrisers. That is to say, you have so much talent here that they perform when they go to another country and play for another team," he said.

As the IPL season draws near, all eyes will be on the three Bangladeshi cricketers, and the Delhi Capitals, with Ganguly at the helm, will undoubtedly be one of the teams to watch.

Jadeja stars as India hammer Australia to take 2-0 Test series lead
India's Cheteshwar Pujara (C) waves towards the spectators as he walks off the field after India's win in the second Test cricket match between India and Australia.

India spinner Ravindra Jadeja returned career-best figures of 7-42 to lead Australia's hammering by six wickets inside three days Sunday to bring the hosts to a 2-0 Test series lead.

Jadeja, a left-arm orthodox, teamed up with fellow spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to dismiss Australia for 113 in a morning session when the tourists' batting imploded, thanks to an overused sweep shot on a tricky New Delhi pitch.

The hosts romped to their victory target of 115 in the second session to guarantee them retention of the Border-Gavaskar trophy in the four-match series.

They have won their previous three series against Australia and are now close to securing a spot in the World Test Championship final.

India lost skipper Rohit Sharma, run out after a fluent 31, and Virat Kohli, who surpassed 25,000 international runs, stumped on 20.

But Cheteshwar Pujara stood firm with 31 in his landmark 100th Test to steer the team home with a winning four as wicketkeeper-batsman Srikar Bharat, unbeaten on 23, looked on.

Nathan Lyon took two wickets to return a match-haul of seven.

Australia, who also lost the opener inside three days, crashed from their overnight 61-1 to get bowled out in 31.1 overs after losing nine wickets for 52 runs in just over 90 minutes of mayhem.

Jadeja improved on his previous Test best of 7-48 to add to his three in the first innings. Ashwin grabbed the remaining three.

Ashwin struck in the first over of the day to get Travis Head caught behind for 43, three balls after the left-hander hit a boundary to add to his overnight score.

Marnus Labuschagne attempted to take the attack to the opposition with the paddle shot and the reverse sweep but was bowled by Jadeja for 35.

David Warner's concussion substitute Matt Renshaw looked clueless against spin in his eight balls at the crease before he missed an attempted sweep, giving Ashwin another lbw.

Wickets fell like nine-pins and Nathan Lyon narrowly averted a Jadeja hat-trick but the bowler kept up the charge to wrap up the Australian innings, which started on a promising note near the end of day two.

Axar Patel set up victory with his counter-attacking 74 on Saturday, lifting India from a precarious 139-7 to just one short of Australia's first-innings total.

The left-hander put on a key 114-run eighth-wicket stand with Ashwin to turn the tables on Australia, who kept coming back with Lyon leading the bowling charge.

Lyon returned figures of 5-67 with his off-spin and was supported by fellow spinners Todd Murphy and debutant Matthew Kuhnemann -- both of whom took two each.

The Aussies suffered an early blow ahead of day two when star opener Warner was ruled out due to concussion after getting hit on the head in his knock of 15.

The third match is in Indore from March 1.

Naseem fined for wearing helmet of Comilla Victorians in PSL

Pakistan's rising fast bowler, Naseem Shah, played for Comilla Victorians in three matches of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), taking seven wickets in the tournament. However, he left the BPL prematurely to participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he is currently playing for Quetta Gladiators.

During a match against Multan Sultans on Wednesday, Naseem attracted attention for wearing the helmet of Comilla Victorians while batting, which went viral on social media. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took disciplinary action against him, fining him 10% of his match fee for wearing the wrong helmet.

Unfortunately for Naseem, his team Quetta Gladiators suffered a crushing defeat in the game, being bowled out for just 110 runs before Multan Sultans chased down the target in just 13.3 overs.
