Model and actress Razia Trina married her boyfriend, Korean national Jinbo Choi, at a wedding ceremony in the capital on Thursday. 

The wedding took place in the presence of family members of both the bride and groom at Dhaka shooting club.

Initially, Trina and Choi became friends and afterwards their friendship turned into a love affair. 

Jinbo Choi, who came to Bangladesh for his job, is currently working for a non-government organisation. 

Trina started her career as a model and walked the runways at shows like BATEXPO, Dhaka Fashion Week and 400 Years of Dhaka. 

Dramas like ‘Cholo Hariye Jai’, ‘Cigarette’ and ‘Bheja Bheja Brishtite’ starred her as an actress.

Trina was seen in a lavish music video for the song ‘Jeona Choley’ released by TM Records in January this year.

A female student was arrested at midnight from male's hostel room of the Chittagong University (CHB) Institute of Fine Arts. At this time, some marijuana was also recovered. The girl was arrested at 12:30 pm on Wednesday (February 1). She was later released on bond.

Meanwhile, cannabis was also recovered from room number 104 of the hostel. The proctoral body also seized a mobile phone from a young outsider boy as he was making a video on his mobile phone.

Proctor of the university Dr. Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan said, 'A female student was arrested from a room of the male student's hostel during the raid. She was later released on bail. Apart from this, we seized a small quantity of ganja and a mobile phone belonging to an outsider youth.'

An aspirant was beaten up twice when he came to participate in the viva for the recruitment of teachers in Chittagong University. On Monday around 12:30 noon, when the victim candidate came out of the VC's meeting room after completing the oral examination, several followers of the Varsity Express (VX) group of the Chhatra League beat the candidate accusing him of being associated with camp politics.

Later at 5 pm, on the way to take him away from the campus under the security of the Proctoral Body and the police, the Chhatra League stopped the car in the Shaheed Minar area and beat him up for the second time. However, Pradeep Chakraborty Durjoy, vice president of branch Chhatra League and leader of VX group, denied the beating and said, "Noor Hossain was a cadre of the camp at that time. Kazi Maruf Islam, vice-president of the university's Shaheed Abdur Rab Hall branch of the Chhatra League, was also beaten up under his leadership.

Actress Pori Moni hit headlines by claiming to have a troubled married life with her husband, actor Sariful Razz, shocking thousands of their fans.

The actress also hinted at separation from Razz in a Facebook post in the early hours of Saturday.  

“Happy thirty-first everyone! I have given Razz a break from my life from today and freed myself as well from a toxic relationship. Nothing is more important in life than living a healthy life,” she wrote.

Later in the day, Pori told the media that she has separated from Razz and left the residence where she lived with him.

Having said that they are not divorced yet, the actress further informed the media that she would send the divorce letter to Razz soon.

Husband Razz, however, did not speak to the media till the filing of this report around 3:00pm.  

Pori and Razz fell for each other while shooting for Giasuddin Selim directorial ‘Gunin’ last year. They developed an affair and tied the knot on January 22 this year at a private ceremony in the capital. 

The couple were blessed with a baby boy, Shaheem Muhammad Rajya, on August 10.

Veteran filmmaker Kazi Hayat has been elected as the president and Shaheen Sumon general secretary of Bangladesh Film Directors Association, for the years 2023-2024.

Voting in the biennial general election of the association took place at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) on Friday.

In the election, Kazi Hayat bagged 142 votes while his nearest rival Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar secured 138 votes.

For the general secretary post, Shaheen Sumon bagged 160 votes while his closest rival Zakir Hossain Raju got 120 votes.

According to the election commission, 302 voters out of total 368 exercised their franchises in the voting that began at 10:00am and continued till 5:00pm. Nine votes were cancelled for various reasons.

Total 39 directors contested the election against 19 posts in the organisation.

In the election, filmmaker Abdul Latif Bachchu discharged his duties as the chief election commissioner while BH Nishan and Shamsul Alam acted as election commissioners.
